Man Kills Kitten Gets NO Jail Time

An Indiana man who reportedly and recently pleaded guilty to fatally
torturing a kitten won't spend a day in jail. In fact, he can go to
any local shelter and adopt any number of animals, if he so wishes.
Please let his sentencing judge hear from you.
The convicted is Thomas L. Head, 48, of Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
Last year, Head reportedly tormented the kitten's disabled guardian
by grabbing her kitten and proceeding to choke the animal and swing
her by her tail. Head then allegedly slammed the kitten into a
utility pole. He later evidently pleaded guilty to the ensuing felony
charge of cruelty to animals.
On October 3, Judge Carl Heldt apparently accepted a plea agreement
that does not require the felon to serve a single day of the three
years behind bars he thus faced. With Head's attorney reportedly
arguing that his client's crime was related to a problem with
alcohol, Judge Heldt sent Head to a substance abuse treatment
facility for one year and left his judicial answer at that.
Kindly suggest that a man's having had "a few too many" is an
insufficient explanation for the torturing and killing of a
defenseless animal. Please help His Honor realize the urgency of
properly sentencing (via lengthy bans of contact with animals and
incarceration in addition to psychological intervention) those
convicted on cruelty-to-animals charges. You may wish to cite the
evidence suggesting that properly sentencing cruelty offenders keeps
the community safe as well

I doubt this man would be facing the same consequences if it were a human he had killed. This kitten was as innocent as any human, and I really think that's all that matters when deciding how serious to look at this case. I hope the right thing is done.

That so wrong he should get jail time and not be able to get any animals from any shelters. That is sick how could someone kill a little animal that has been able to live a full life.
