Mr. President, please STOP the genocidal war against Tamils in Sri Lanka

Dear Mr. President

Please STOP the genocidal war against Tamils, in Sri Lanka.

Your inaugural address gave us hope as Tamil Americans whose brethren have been oppressed for six decades by the majority in srilanka. We are saddened by your silence on the srilankan crisis where the government indiscriminately massacres innocent Tamils including children on a daily basis. According to media reports more than 300 civilians are being killed every week in artillery or air attacks, apparently since the day you took the oath of office.

We Tamils still hope that you would stand by your statement in your inaugural address when you said we should not be extending our nations hand to those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent. Please take immediate action now by putting pressure on srilankan government to announce a ceasefire followed by a political solution that will address the systematic discrimination by the srilankan Government against the Tamils.

America vehemently stood against the holocaust of Jews during the rule of Hitler. The current genocidal crimes against Tamils in srilanka are no different than what the Jewish people went through. Tamils should have the right to live and be able to determine their own future.

War on Terror has been used as a pretext by the srilankan Government to suppress the genuine freedom struggle of the Tamils. International community is hoodwinked to believe the blatant lies of srilankan Govt. under a total media ban.

Secretary Hillary Clinton, Senator John Kerry, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and various other world leaders have called on the srilankan Government but the Government has done absolutely nothing and continues to display arrogant behavior.

We are fully aware of your commitments to make Americas core values and ideals a beacon to other nations of the world.

Under your leadership, we now have a chance to correct our historical mistakes of not preventing Genocides while they were happening right in front of our eyes. You can set a new legacy by preventing the mass atrocities in Srilanka before it is too late. Our nations geo political interests in that region are better served and accomplished by a principled approach which ensures Tamils right to self determination.

Thousands of innocent lives can be saved by you calling on the srilankan Government to announce an immediate cease fire and to allow the aid agencies to deliver the urgently needed food and medicine to the affected areas.

Yes, you are the ONLY one who can help, and our hopes are with you.
