Never Again! - End The Genocide In Darfur

We, the undersigned residents of Canada

Draw the attention of The Prime Minister & The Foreign Affairs Minister to the following:

That genocide has taken place in the Darfur region of Sudan, and that approximately 300,000 people have been killed, and 2 million more have been displaced. The Sudanese government has delayed the deployment of a 26,000 troop UNAMID (U.N.-African Union) Peacekeeping force in the region. The Sudanese government has supported and armed Arab Janjaweed rebels who have attacked and killed hundreds of thousands of non-Arabs in Darfur. Peace accords have not been successful, and militia rebel groups have intercepted aid causing a food shortage within some refugee camps. Ceasefire agreements have not been obeyed as fighting still continues between Arab and Non-Arab militias.

Rape is used as a tool of war.

People who have never seen a radio or a TV and live in extreme poverty, innocent civilians who's only sin was being of the "wrong race" are being killed by the thousands.

Militias intercept the food going into refugee camps, causing food and water shortages in the refugee camps. There is no other way to transport aid since there are no helicopters to do this.

As citizens of a privileged and truly great nation it is our duty to help those who are desperately in need, so that Never Again can truly mean something.

The UN Secretary General has called this the biggest humanitarian crisis of our time, and that the ethnic conflict began from disputes over exhausted ecological resources, resources exhausted because of global warming, and Canada is one of the biggest CO2 contributers in the world.

Canadians are accountable, let's be remembered as the generation who didn't let "Never Again" turn into "Again and Again"

Therefore your petitioners call upon the Canadian government to:
Pressure the Sudanese government to allow the full 26,000 UNAMID peacekeeping force in the region
To pressure the Sudanese government to begin peace talks and accords with the Janjaweed, The Sudanese Liberation Movement (Non-Arab Rebel Group) and the Justice and Equality Movement (Non-Arab Rebel Group)
Increase land based humanitarian relief efforts,
Pressure the Canadian government and other world leaders to:
a) Increase land based humanitarian relief efforts
b) Offer helicopters to the UNAMID peace keeping force
c) Persuade the Sudanese government to comply with the jurisdiction of the I.C.C. (International Criminal Court) (U.N. Security Council Resolution 1593)
Encourage surrounding governments to allow refugees sanctuary
