New Music at Football Games

This is directed to all SHSU Bearkats. With the new football season quickly approaching, a lot of students are getting excited about going to games every weekend and having a good time at the annual tailgate parties that take place in the Bower's Stadium parking lot. Well, I'm sure we can all agree that football games should be a cheerful and exciting occasion. Unfortunately, there have been too many times during the past years that the students in the marching band have received negative attention from playing the same song over and over again or playing songs that are outdated and unknown by most college-age students. Since we have a new band director this year, I wanted to get together a list of student signatures and show him that students on campus would be interested in hearing the Bearkat Marching Band play songs that are more popular. The band plays a key part in crowd participation at football games, and by adding new songs that are more popular...but still keeping the traditional ones such as the fight song, Eat Em Up Kats, etc...we can show our football players even more support throughout the season.

I agree that the music is outdated and bland. I want new music and routines that we can have a good time listening to at the games instead of listening to the other teams music.

Yea....we need some better songs. Different songs. Songs that get the crowd moving, grooving, stuff like that. Dont get me wrong, that Ozzy Osborne song is cool, but come on, let get up-to-date songs. We're gonna have almost 16,000 students, more than hal
