We have until the 5th of August to provide the Council with any comments for consideration during the following nine months period. I will however let the petition run for as long as possible.
For those of you who are unaware of the Councils plans( As I was until this morning 21/07/10) The idea is to build between 2000 and 5000 homes on green belt land surrounding the city from Sherburn around the west side and across the northern edge to Brasside and to re develop the Aykley heads site for housing and "Multi National Business Premises".
When the above is completed, a twenty year plan according to the Council, they intend to build a relief road from Pity Me to Belmont and a 2nd road from the Stone Bridge to the Snipperly Parkl and Ride with the idea of linking the two using the existing bypassand Rotary Way.
The roads will only be financed by the building of the houses by private developers so they cannot be completed until the developments have been. The council say this is a TWENTY YEAR plan.
