Minister Jennex
My name is Angus Cameron and I was born in Trenton On. 40 some years ago.
Having served 26 years in the Navy, and now retired, just read an article about
Poppies on Motorcycle plates for Ontario.
I think this is a great way to remember our Veterans and would like to continue the
cause for our bike plates in Nova Scotia.
I would like to bring to your attention and article from a online newspaper,
http://www.wellandtribune.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2833182
We as Canadians already have these plates in Quebec and British Columbia.

I hope you find the time to read and consider my email, and let's not be the last to
do this, because all the other provinces did,
let's be the 4th province to do it, because its a great idea.
Thank you for your time

Dear Mr. Cameron:
Thank you for your e-mail inquiry of November 25, 2010 requesting that Nova Scotia
create and issue a motorcycle license plate with a poppy as the graphic image.
As you may be aware, Nova Scotia was the first Province in Canada to issue a license
Plate to honor the contributions of the men and women who have proudly served their
Country. The Nova Scotia Veteran plate was designed in consultation with the Royal
Canadian Legion and was launched in February of 2003. To date, approximately 10,700
Plates have been issued to eligible veterans.
There are a number of veteran plate designs across the Country. Many of them
incorporate the poppy and a Canadian flag in the design. Currently, each Canadian
Province makes one veteran plate graphic design available. As you indicate in your e
-mail, three provinces currently offer a veteran plate for motorcycles. Specialty
Plates, in Nova Scotia, have generally not been made available for motorcycles due to
the smaller plate size as it limits the room for graphics.
I hope this addresses your concerns.
Sincerely,
Original Signed by

To solve the space requirements on Nova Scotia Motorcycle plates I suggest dropping
the digit to the far left and using this space for the Veteran Graphic. To date we
only have 10,700 Veteran plates for Passenger Vehicles and needing the ability to have
999,999 Motorcycle plates is a little much. We could drop another digit and replace
it with a "V" and still have room for 9,999 plates.
This cause is of the utmost importance to recognize and remember all Veterans past and
present.
