Oppose Breed Ban in Aberdeen, South Dakota

We, the undersigned, oppose the banning of the dogs commonly known as pit bull in the City of Aberdeen, South Dakota, located in Brown County.
Breed Specific Legislation is ineffective and places undue and necessary burden on the tax payers while producing no increased public safety. We understand, after having researched the topic in detail, that most Breed Ban are a knee-jerk reaction to isolated incidents, or stem from total ignorance of basic animal behavior. In any case, we are not willing to have our tax dollars spent on such a futile effort.
Time and time again, increased public education and the enforcement of existing leash laws have proven to be the most effective way to reduce dog bites. While we would support a plan that uses education and enforcement, we cannot in good conscious support a ban which will inevitably result in an increased burden on our police department, and our court system.
Please consider my signing this petition as my personal vote against and breed specific legislation for Aberdeen, SD.
