The proposed McDonalds development at the southwest corner of Detroit Avenue and Woodward Avenue in Lakewood, Ohio, will impact the public safety in our neighborhoods. Residents are concerned specifically about how the development will increase vehicular traffic, create traffic bottlenecks, and affect pedestrian traffic.
We, the undersigned, as concerned Lakewood citizens, respectfully request the Mayors Office and the City Council of Lakewood, Ohio, to act now to ensure that a traffic study is completed for the proposed McDonalds development before any further council or commission action is taken by the city concerning this development. This traffic study must incorporate an area at least five hundred feet from the property boundaries of the proposed development and include the following measures: vehicular and pedestrian traffic volumes, all commercial and private entrances and exits, gap analysis, traffic signal warrants, and twenty-year traffic projections to ensure the proposed development has minimal negative impacts on public safety. We also request that our elected officials meet with us after giving ample notice to discuss the results of the study and any action the city will take to address public safety problems uncovered by the study. We request this meeting be held at least two weeks prior to any further council or commission action taken by the city concerning this development.
