Please Veto Spending Bills, Mr. Bush

In your first term, you have not vetoed any bills, including spending bills. In your second term, we believe this must change.

We are alarmed at the growth of the deficit and federal spending. Federal activity has continued to increase.

We call upon you to set lower spending targets in the budget requests. Spending that exceeds these targets should be vetoed.

We call upon you to veto spending on activities not authorized in the US Constitution.

We call upon you to veto corporate welfare and other forms of spending that transfer money from some Americans to others.

We call upon all members of Congress to press for these spending reductions and to eliminate budget authority for activities not authorized by the US Constitution.

We call upon all members of Congress to advocate presidential vetoes of spending bills.

We call upon all members of Congress to oppose overrides of presidential vetoes of spending bills.
