Dear President Barack Obama,
As medical professionals, we echo your statement regarding the gravity of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. We share your concern for the well-being of its people.
As members of the National Arab-American Medical Association, we request your administration take decisive action to provide badly needed relief to Gazas devastated health care system. Sending a naval hospital ship or establishing field hospitals there would greatly benefit those in need of medical care and send a powerful message to the region.
Members of our organization and many of our colleagues in the medical profession are willing to support these efforts by working along-side government medical staff on a volunteer basis.
NAAMA has a deep desire to lend an urgently-needed helping hand to Gaza, and believes your message of compassion for the peoples suffering would be strengthened by such measures. Please give this matter serious consideration.
We thank you for your understanding and wish you well in confronting the serious challenges facing our country and troubled world.
