On 09 10 08 South Africa honoured the women who peacefully protested against an extension of the pass laws to women. 50 years later history shows signs of repeating itself.
We need to raise our voices against the proposed Media Tribunal Bill, restrictive clauses in the Protection of Information Bill, Mzilikazi wa Afrikas arrest by 8 policemen, his house search minus evidence of a search warrant, delayed access to his lawyer and an 18 hour delay before his rights were read. All of which parallel behaviour and legislative practice of the apartheid state.
Jackson Mthembu claimed(10 08 10) that ordinary people agree. Lets show him that we, the ordinary people, disagree because we remember what apartheid did to press and individual freedom.
