Protect Religious Liberty in Switzerland

Dear Mr. Freysinger:

I am writing to you because I am concerned about a recent story from the BBC, reporting that you and other members of the Swiss People's Party seek to ban the construction of minarets on Muslim centers of worship in Switzerland. We believe the discriminatory nature of this proposal and the bigoted rhetoric justifying it, is simply an extremely unethical means of using peoples' ignorance and fears of a particular faith community to capture votes in the upcoming Parliamentary election.

For both moral and practical reasons we stand in complete opposition to the proposed ban. It is not only an infringement on peoples' universal right to freedom religion, thought and belief, it risks further alienation and possible radicalization of an already alienated segment of the Swiss population.

I therefore demand that such an initiative immediately cease and add myself to the growing chorus of voices inside and outside of Switzerland denouncing such blatant religious discrimination.
