Bullet proof jackets are supposed to save the life of persons wearing them from bullets. In the Mumbai terror attack on 26th Nov 2008 the brave police officials who laid down their life for the cause of saving innocent Indian peoples, were killed by the bullets of AK47 despite of wearing bullet proof jackets. The bullets pierced through these jackets and bereaved us from our gallant police officers. The corrupt government officials/ politicians who knowingly purchased such sub standard quality bullet proof jackets are also equally culpable as these terrorists who perpetrated such a horrendous crime.
As per the Information provided on Maharashtra Governments RTI website 7.5 crores of public money is spent on Modernization of Mumbai police force in the year 2006 2007.

As per the rules and regulations the equipments purchased for security forces undergo tests in the special labs to attest their quality. Despite of knowing the fact these bullet proof jackets were of sub standard quality, these jackets were distributed to the police force.
Such an astronomical amount of public money is being wasted on purchasing sub standard quality equipments for our security forces under the name of Modernizing the police force. As it is our money that we pay to the Government by means of taxes, we must ask the Government to publish the details of deal/transaction in which these bullet proof jackets were purchased.
We demand following actions from the Government of Maharashtra
1) Publish the details of deal in which these bullet proof jackets are purchased.
2) A thorough judicial enquiry should be conducted & all the corrupt Govt. officials/ Politicians responsible for the purchase of such poor quality bullet proof jacket should be brought to the justice.
