Right to Privacy for Home Phone Numbers for University of St.Thomas Students

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that we be granted the option of not listing our home phone number in the University of St. Thomas directory.

1. You may not be aware that currently our home phone numbers are listed on the internet for the general public to see at http://www.stthomas.edu/directories/.  This directory does not require authentication for access.2.We are concerned about our right to privacy.  We recognize that some students prefer to keep their home phone number private and therefore we support the right of all GPS students to choose whether their home phone number is listed online.3.The University of St. Thomas Registrar states that we have a legal right to withhold directory information as persuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99).4.The University Registrar also states that our Graduate Program has the exclusive authority to withhold our home phone numbers when providing information to the Registrar's office for the printed and online directories.THEREFORE, we request that you please provide each GPS Student the option of withholding his or her home phone number from University publications, both printed and online.
