Due to a single noise complaint The Romany Pub at 131 Colman Road, Norwich, NR 4 7HA, UK has been issued with a noise abatement order.
The complaint has come from a lone individual who lives upstairs from The Romany, but has lived there from the very beginnings of live music being sponsored in The Romany since December 2005 and has never voiced an opinion or concern regarding the noise eminating from the pub due to live events.
The Romany hosts a vast array of music from karaoke, jam nights, a new band night and a night for established local and touring acts. Since the inception of live music at The Romany, we have seen many touring acts as well, with bands coming from as far away as Los Angeles, California!
We have seen in the past how quickly inaction can affect the well-being for the future of live music in our fine city. We have gone from contenders for the European City Of Culture in 2004 to a city with little to look forward to because of the loss of so many avenues to play live music.

Norwich as a very rich heritage in live music. Let's keep it that way before they close ALL of our music venues.
No one person should have that much power, that they can shut a place down on their own! This place is surrounded by a residential area (me included) and there have been minimal complaints and they have always been resolved on a personal level. The complainant has never contacted the proprietors to discuss noise levels, he went straight to the council!
