Of Brentwood, Tennessee
We the undersigned Brentwood residents, petition the Brentwood Board of Commissioners to place the highest priority on preserving permanent, open green space in Brentwood for the benefit of future generations. Such land could be used for parks and walking trails, protection of historic sites, gateway view sheds, and other scenic areas that help preserve the original, rural character of Brentwood. We encourage the Board to continue to use all available methods for preservation including acceptance of land dedications, zoning tools and use of federal, state and county funding sources to complement City efforts. We request the Board to call a public referendum for the issuance of up to $50 million in general obligation bonds to finance the acquisition and preservation of additional open space under public control. We understand that the issuance and repayment of bonds in any amount will require an increase in Brentwood property taxes. I am willing to pay more property taxes to cover all debt services associated with the issuance of these bonds.
