The Government wants to sell off significant parts of the woodland managed by the Forestry Commission to private firms, residents and community groups. What remains under the control of the Forestry Commission will face substantial reform.
This could mean woodlands, like Cannock Chase, could be sold to the highest bidder.
Local people are questioning what this change could mean for their current enjoyment of the woodland. Would future owners want to encourage access, with things like footpaths and cycle trails?
We, the undersigned, oppose any suggestion that Cannock Chase should be sold off and want to preserve our beautiful forest.
