This petition is for all of those who are in support of changes to Section 810 of the Criminal Code of Canada- otherwise known as anti-stalking law.
Current laws allow a maximum 1 year term for the Peace Bond orders that are intended to protect the victim from stalking and criminal harassment.
Victims of stalking therefore must face their abuser on a yearly basis in the court of law in order to reapply for protection. We feel that this revictimizes these individuals and that they deserve a greater length of protection.
We are in support of changes to this law to allow for an increased term of protection.
