This is a petition to recommend better security and management resolution regarding gang-type activity at the Parkway Plaza mall.
Our El Cajon blog has many members who have voiced concerns over young adults hanging out in various areas causing intimidation and an unruly environment. There have been instances in the parking lot that are also threatening. Many members have remarked that they feel unsafe at the mall and avoid shopping there and do not allow their children to go there.
We suggest that the owners and managers of this property ensure that shoppers are not threatened by young people loitering at entrances or anywhere else on the property. Preventative measures and a certain visibility by security are required for this to happen.

As noted the security at the mall needs to be improved. Also, the parking structure is a mess! There are always kids hanging out and it is filty. We are going to Fashon Valley. No problems and it is clean.

I grew up shopping at Parkway Plaza but I havent been there in years. I refuse to take my kids. I do all of my shopping in Santee where I feel safe and welcome. I miss the experience of a big indoor mall.

The 'NO SMOKING' ordinance needs to be enforced better too. 20 feet from 'entrance/opening' - not just the door itself and no ashtrays next to doors! Particularly at the Wal Mart west entrance.

My car was vandalized in your parking structure in April 2008. Two tires were slashed and the driver's side door was keyed. More security, cameras, etc are needed to protect those who are spending their hard earned money in your establishment.

I do not like Parkway Plaza at all. We avoid it if at all possible. And we NEVER stay there past about 5:00. It gets even worse with lots of rude and mouthy teenagers.
