Shot - Don't Make It A Single

Great song as Shot may be, however, we are a group of fans who are under the impression that this particular song, in its recorded version, does the band no justice, as it is not the rock tune we would expect from them, but more like a pop tune.

Some people might say it is radio friendly, and maybe it is, but we still think the band should also consider that they do claim to be a rock band, and to release a song of this sort will not help their image one bit.

Its no secret The Rasmus isnt where they could be, and as very dedicated fans, this upsets us, because we know how great they are, and what they are capable of doing.
One of us has even, in advance, ran a test, playing their songs for a wide selection of people who are not fans of The Rasmus, and the result was of course that Shot was one of the songs that made people frown the most.

Of course, there is a chance that the band do not care what image they carry, as long as they sell, and if that is the case, then well rest our case and leave them to it, but it does speak against what they have earlier said in interviews etc.

We are against Shot being released as a single, because of the pop elements of this tune, and because we do really want to see the band receive the respect we know they deserve.

There are other songs that would make better singles, like Immortal, Night After Night and Lucifers Angel, not to mention Trigger, which unfortunately isnt even on the album, and therefore wont do as a single.

We know Immortal was the b-side of the No Fear single, which is a pity as that was a waste of a good song, but were also fully aware of the fact that this song is of course not all that radio friendly. But at least it is of a much better quality than the recorded version of Shot, as far as rock music is concerned, and wed rather see them gaining respect with this, even though it wont sell as much as In The Shadows did.

Night After Night has the whole In The Shadows sequel issue, but would that necessarily be such a bad thing? From the look of it, they are trying to find the next In The Shadows anyway, and this song has a great potential when it comes to working with the video.

Lucifers Angel is a good rock tune, perhaps a little sad, but I dont think no one will be surprised at hearing a sad song from this band. ;)

Trigger is the best song from Hide From The Sun, even though it was not put on an album. This is good music, the song has aggression, and most people love it. However, this cant be done, because for some reason this song was not put on the album.

Down to it all, we just want our favourite band to prove themselves as the rock band they are, instead of releasing a song that sounds more like pop, and gives a slight reference to Abba with its church bells in the chorus. This is not the band we love so much!
And maybe they wont hear us, but at least weve spoken! Were the fans, we know what we want and what we can expect from them.

So if you agree with anything weve said, please show your support by signing your name on our petition. And if you agree, but think a petition is useless because they wont listen to us anyway, or its too late to have the single changed, please sign anyway!
It might be too late, but at least theyve heard us, and maybe well see a change in the future.
(For us, this is not the first time we disagree with the single choice)
