Simultaneous Worldwide Video Game Release Dates

This is a request for gamers, by gamers to change the current practice by many Game developers (and publishers) of having different release dates for various regions to one of a single, unified, simultaneous, worldwide release date for video games.
In this day and age, every gamer should be entitled to purchase a video game at the same time as their international counterparts. Be it with the issues of spoilers, Piracy, leaderboard disadvantages in games with persistent online multiplayer; gamers of today are fed up of having to wait two or three days for a game some of their friends in another part of the world may have already finished.
This petition is from my perspective as a gamer in the UK, where we regularly see release dates up to a week later than our American cousins. The same situation has happened in reverse on a few occasions. It really shouldn't be the case anymore.
The video games industry has always shown itself to move with the times. Now is the chance for it to do so again.
