Standard for acupuncture in Ontario
Sign Now
The Government of Ontario has now made Bill 50 2006 into law, despite opposition from the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture professionals and people who support and benefit from TCM treatments.
With Clause 18 of the bill the new law will allow the adoption of multiple standards on acupuncture. This indicates that the law fails to recognize acupuncture as a unique and distinct health treatment whose standard is recognized by the World Health Organization.
Multiple standards on acupuncture will result in serious unfavorable consequences such as
Vague impression on acupuncture;
The public being misled to take the fake acupuncture;
Personal suffering being prolonged because Ontarians do not know where to find real effective TCM and acupuncture treatment;
The public and insurance companies money being wasted;
Health care cost unreasonably increasing
We demand the government to amend the legislation to realize a common standard for all acupuncturists, in order to safeguard the interests of the Ontario public.
