Stop the on-campus scooter posession ban at Hart High Scool

With the addendum of the California Vehicle Code in early 2006, provisional license carriers (teenage students,) may no longer transport other passengers under the age of twenty five (25) years. For teens to follow this law, all provisional license carriers must drive alone in their vehicle. The Undersigned fully understands this law and understands its purpose. However, this law creates much more traffic around schools, such as the already overcrowded William S. Hart High School. As of Summer, 2007, the school administration has officially banned all personal transportation devices, such as, but not limited to: skateboards, bicycles, in-line/roller skates, and now for the first time, scooters.


Since Fall 2006, A select group of students have been using Razor style scooters as an efficient and inexpensive mode of transportation. In addition to being very environmentally safe, the scooters and their riders help cut down on lunch-time and after-school traffic considerably. The Undersigned has consistently complied with existing rules by storing their scooters during class time, carrying them off of the school grounds before riding, and safely following all traffic rules and regulations regarding personal transportation devices. The Undersigned wishes not that the administration remove such the restrictions outlined above, but simply let us continue to safely store our scooters safely on campus, for off-campus use during the time allotted for lunch and after school hours. The school's recent mailings include a notice of an official ban under "California Penal Code Section 602L"
