This proposal is mainly going to affect the house we live in and our neighbours house. It will also have an impact to the views of Chepstow, strain the car parking traffic and damage the rustic feel of Chepstow.
It will have a huge impact on the residents of Hocker Hill Street ( and beyond) because of the following reasons;
*Blocking of natural light - the other side of the houses light is already blocked by the bank opposite so it will be like living in a cave.
*The elderly using the cobbled street and path to the land - the cobbled street is an asset to Chepstow and a historic feature but is unsuitable for the less able and wheelchairs. The path is too dark at night therefore lighting would be needed but not welcome by us residents.
*Because of the height of the build, all privacy to the current residents will be lost as windows are directly facing into our windows. The will look over into our gardens too. If the path by our garden will be in use more, a higher fence will have to be erected therefore even more natural light will be lost.
*The land, as far as I'm aware, was not owned by one person, it was shared space for the residents backing on to it. It has over the years come into some disrepair but as a community, it can be put back to what it was or made into something that will please more people. How about a bungalow? Allotments? Water gardens? A viewing area for the castle and Wye Valley? All can have the access from the car park as to not disturb Hocker Hill Street at all.
