We the undersigned should like to lend support to Dr. Subramanian Swamy and his recent article in DNA as his right to free speech. As mentioned by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), we feel that any action against Dr. Swamy by Harvard will be in violation of an individual's right to the freedom of expression. Furthermore, Dr. Swamy is well versed on the constitution and laws of India and US. This article was published in an Indian newspaper and there is not a single line in the article that is illegal.
We strongly feel that Harvard University should not be used as a pawn by Indian politicians opposed to Dr. Swamy to discredit him by putting forth a petition for his removal from Harvard. Harvard should maintain a politically non-aligned approach and protect it's professors like Dr. Swamy.
Our request is directly to the management of Harvard to make sure that you provide adequate support to Dr. Swamy and dismiss such politically aimed petitions.
