The following petition has been designed to support Salman Khan in the 'hit-and-run' case in which he is currently involved. Charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, the court rejected the first two of Salman's bail pleas. However, as of now there is no substantial evidence that he was indeed driving the car that injured four and killed one. And given that he was driving the car, there was no way he was to know that there would be people sleeping on the sidewalk such that if he lost control of his car, they would be run over. So where does the question of culpable homicide, which deals with the conscious killing of a person, arise? The police also seems to be adding new charges to his file by the day, some charges that even go some five years back...interesting how these charges never surfaced until now, when he is in serious trouble. Also, as reported by the Times of India, another hit-and-run case took place on October 9th, leading to the death of Salimullah Alimullah Khan, 30. The responsible, 20 year old Amar Manchandani, was released on a bail of Rs 950; he was not even tested for alcohol. The police refused to comment on the incident. Interesting how an ordinary Amar Manchandani is simply released on a bail of Rs 950, while a superstar like Salman Khan is now facing up to ten years of prison. Injustice? Certainly sounds like it...this petition is not an attempt to condone the death and injuries suffered by the victims of the accident involving Salman. It is a petition to support Salman, a petition requesting the police to leave aside all prejudice against Salman and treat him as they would treat any other citizen. It is a petition requesting the media to quit blowing things out of proportion simply because Salman is a celebrity, because he too is a human being...and an accident will always be an accident. So please, all fans of Salman must sign this petition. Salman: Our prayers are with you.
