This is a petition to challenge TXGA (Texas Geocaching Association) to make a change of venue or change of date for their Geowoodstock event they will be hosting at Cedar Hill State Park on Memorial Day weekend of 2005. As any avid camper or resident that uses this park knows that Memorial Day weekend gets very crowded and busy across Texas. This park is no different, and its normally hard to get a reservation at any park across the state when it is just residents of Texas with family and friends visiting. Most people use this park as an annual gathering with family and friends and to welcome in the summer months. TXGA wants to host an event at this park on Memorial Day weekend that will bring hundreds if not thousands of people to this park on the busiest weekend for camping and for the year. This event will force families who have been gathering at this park for years to ether find other alternatives across the state which might enable them to hold their family function, or just cancel it all together due to the fact other parks might be booked. Some families are not able to travel long distances and this park makes a perfect halfway point for many. Not to mention with the rising gas prices it is becoming expensive to travel. To allow this group to host this event and force out families who are trying to get away and spend time with their loved ones and friends should not be allowed. Not to mention the lucky ones who do actually get reservations will be disturbed by those attending this event and not actually there for the camping experience. If we allow this event to be held then whats next, car shows? Texas State Parks are meant for camping and enjoying the great outdoors with family. Not to host events for your association to force families to go else where that have been going to this park for years. If you cherish your State Parks and want to keep your camping experience from organizations taking over and ruining family values. Then please sign this petition to NOT allow this event to take place at this park or weekend and let your voice be heard
