The Amended Holiday Closings

The major retail chains(i.e., Wal-Mart, Sears Holdings, Simon Malls, Safeway, Kroger, Home Depot, Lowe's Hardware, Target, etc.) have forced their employees for over 2 decades to work on various national holidays. These days are meant to celebrate many of our nation's most pivotal points in history. Employees of retail companies should be able to spend time with their families, but too many are forced to sacrifice that time in order to keep business going.
With this thought in mind, I propose to you the following peitition:
That is, that major retail concenrsz(department stores, supermarkets & shopping malls)be closed all day on the following 12 days of the year:
1. Easter Sunday
2. Mother's Day(the 2nd. Sunday in May)
3. Memorial Day(the 4th. Monday in May)
4. Father's Day(the 3rd. Sunday in June)
5. Independence Day(July 4th.)
6. Labor Day(the 1st. Monnday in September)
7. Patriot Day(September 11th.)
8. Columbus Day(the 2nd. Monday in October)
9. Veterans Day(November 11th.)
10. Thanksgiving Day(the 4th. Thursday in November)
11. Christmas Day(December 25th.)
12. New Year's Day(January 1st.)
Should Independence Day, Patriot Day, Veterans Day, Christmas Day & New Year's Day should fall on a Saturday, these businesses will remain closed the following day, which is Sunday. Should they fall on Sunday, they'll remain closed the next day, which is Monday.
Futhermore, should these establishments open on any of the 12 days mentioned, they shall pay a fine of no less than $500,000, the which shall be donated to the charity of the choosing of the municipality in which the offense occurs(excluding racist, pro-abortion & pro-totalitarianism societites). They shall also be barred from opening for 2 Sundays in a row(where Sunday openings are allowed).
Plus, these concerns shall pay double the overtime wage and provide free health care and welfare benefits to their employees on these holidays in addition to their regular wage & fringe benefits programs.
The following exemptions are allowed:
1. Convenience stores
2. Service stations
3. Ethnic owned businesses(supermarkets, resturants & clubs targeted towards clientele of various ethnic backgrounds)
4. Resturants & bars
5. Entertainment & Recreation Facilities(amusement parks, bowling alleys, video & game arcades, night clubs, movie and stage theaters, etc.)
6. Pharmacies
7. Gift shops
9. Flea Markets
9. Yard Sales
10. Internet shopping sites(web sites owned by the retail enterprises mentioned may contine to operate through the holidays. Customers should be forewarned as to delivery policies concerning these days.)
This supercedes all previous state, local & municipal statutes, and shall be enacted in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and all U.S. territories & possessions, including the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico & the US Virgin Islands.
