The primary causes of obesity are:
-Unhealthy diets
-Lack of exercise
-Genetics and medical conditions
We can combat the first two points through exercise and healthy diets. However, people don't want to exercise. Why? They A.) don't have enough money, B.) are afraid to commit to expensive long-term contracts or C.) feel that physical well-being is low on the list of life's priorities.
We all know that staying fit is an essential part of life. Why not make it easier on the people of America? Why not make it easier on the people of America? By building community gyms, where normal citizens pay a reduced fee and seniors, youth, and at-risk citizens can exercise free of charge, it will become more convenient and worthwhile to exercise, thus resulting in more gym-goers and a substantial reduction of obesity in America. Such a plan has worked before, with astounding success, under a program called Power of Prevention directed by Dean Grivois, in Van Buren, Maine (see http://www.powerofprevention.org/fitness.htm ). This idea can be reproduced throughout the country.
