We, The Undersigned, request the name Conference USA (C-USA) be changed to The Southwest Conference (SWC).
Conference USA is an all sports athletic conference comprising of twelve institutions from the South and West. Three C-USA members were a part of the original SWC, which was founded in 1914 and ceased in 1996.
The Southwest Conference is a name that holds nearly a century of name recognition in college athletics. The SWC won sixty-two national championships in fifteen sports and had five Heisman Trophy winners. The Southwest Conference describes the geographic footprint of C-USA and carries with it a stronger emotional appeal.
