For many years Depeche Mode have been at the forefront of music. In many cases they have been years ahead of their rivals. Their ability to cross boundaries both musically and socially have changed how many people see the world.
Australian and New Zealander fans alike would love to see them tour here again for the new album, hence this petition.
From engaging in early electro and synth-pop, to influencing the current chart topping electro inspired acts, Depeche Mode helped create an environment today where electronic music is no longer frowned upon and is considered real music.
Indeed Depeche Mode have been accused of "detonating house music". The many musical styles that spiralled from house music including most dance, trance or many others, can in some way or other be traced back to them.
It is fair to say that while Depeche Mode may not have enjoyed huge chart success in Australia, they have always maintained a solid and loyal fan-base. Their new single Precious has more than revived interest from fans, old and new, and has already been hailed a classic Mode track in many quarters.
What a huge disappointment if Depeche Mode were not to tour Australia/New Zealand in 2005/06.
Please sign the petition and let the world know that you support Depeche Mode and their impending tour, and influence tour promoters to entice Depeche Mode back.
