We, the undersigned, would like to express our displeasure at the recent Bonnaroo artist additions. Many of us were disappointed with The Allman Brothers Band cancellation, but the excitement of the "big announce[ment]" promised more than made up for that. As you have never before announced an announcement in advance, we understandably assumed it truly would be "exciting".
However, we feel that adding a band that has headlined Bonnaroo four times before, regardless of our feelings on the band itself, qualifies as neither "big" nor "exciting". Our days of speculation leading up to the announcement turned into bitter disappointment when we saw two Bonnaroo regulars added along with a few smaller tier acts. Why you chose to announce it as you did is your business, but with Coachella adding Prince and Lollapalooza having what many consider an excellent headlining group, building your fans up only to let them down makes you look foolish, and us frustrated.
We do not request you remove Widespread Panic or any of the other additions, nor are we necessarily angry that they were added at all. We just request truth in advertising. We request that you take into consideration us loyal 'Roo-goers when you devise your future marketing strategies, and be careful about the promises you make. Many of us will be suspicious when you advertise the next "exciting Bonnaroo announcement" until you begin to deliver on your promises. Be careful what you say, and take into consideration your fans and your competition when you say it.
