Truth in wattage ratings for audio equipment

petition image
We the undersigned do request that misleading wattage rating claims be removed from advertising for car and home audio equipment and instead be replaced with true continuous wattage ratings that adhere to a single standard. We furthermore request that the aforementioned wattage claims not be used on the equipment and instead the true wattage ratings be utilized. I.E. a 400W amplifier must be capable of producing at least 400W RMS at no more than 1\% T.H.D.
