On the 7th May 2004 17 men were jailed for a total of 38 years after pleading guilty to charges of violent disorder relating to a fight at Maze Hill station in April 2002.
No members of the public were injured or involved in this incident.
In my view the sentences handed down in this case are far too heavy.
Far worse crimes are committed every day in this country.Crimes with victims.
Muggers,rapists,paedophiles...real criminals recieving unreal sentences.
This case has taken two years to come to court.
Just in time for Euro 2004.
Coincidence?
I suggest that these sentences have nothing to with the offence that took place,the 17 men jailed are being used as an example by the government in an attempt to warn off troublemakers from Euro 2004.
Justice hasn't been done.

The sentencing is an absolute farce bearing in mind some of the recent sentences handed out for more serious crimes. What happened was probably no different than what occurs at every kebab shop, pub/club in the United Kingdom every weekend.
