Vote "NO" on Yonkers School Budget Cuts!

The Yonkers Public Schools are facing debilitating budget cuts for the 2011-2012 school year: elimination of Pre-K, a shift to half-day kindergarten, and other assorted layoffs mean we will lose have already lost 340 certified teachers from our classrooms.

We, the parents, teachers, and other concerned citizens of Yonkers, cannot allow this to happen. Tell the Mayor and the City Council to vote NO on this budget that will create over-crowded classrooms, deprive our children of music, art, library and sports, and cost us some of Yonkers best and brightest teachers.

The Mayor, City Council, Superintendent of Schools, Yonkers Federation of Teachers, and State and County elected officials must work together in the weeks ahead to take whatever steps are necessary to identify financial resources that are needed to insure that our children receive the education they need and deserve.
