Three weeks from now, you will have a first-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
On November 2, 2004, you will be asked to decide who will lead your country. This may be not only the first, but also one of the most important elections of your life.
Over the last 45 months the Bush administration has been dismantling much of our nations hard-earned progress. They are defying governmental transparency and accountability, threatening basic constitutional rights, auctioning away our natural resources, and favoring political doctrine over objective fact. All the while, they have built a colossal national debt for the youth of today to face tomorrow.
And most importantly, through a tragic war based on fabricated cause, they are breeding more of the anti-U.S. extremism that threatens our national security. As our nations youngest eligible voters, you will live the longest under the consequences of the next four years. This is your chance to act for change.
In addition to electing a president, you can choose candidates at the congressional, state, and local level. Wisconsin has progressive candidates in Russ Feingold for U.S. Senate and Tammy Baldwin for Wisconsins 2nd congressional district. Information on all candidates is available at www.wisconsinvote.org.
To register to vote in Wisconsin, you simply need to be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age, and have lived in the state at least 10 days. You can register by person on Election Day, but its best to mail in your registration ahead of time. Get important details at www.wisconsinvote.org. While youre at it, invite your friends to join you.
