My name is Michelle Clifton and I am campaigning for traffic calming measurements in Cheslyn hay at the top of Landywood Lane, and the junction with the high street and in particular the entrance to the co-operative store.
Traffic calming measures are desperately needed in Cheslyn hay along this particular stretch of road and especially on the entrance to the co-op store; there have been several minor collisions on the road and on the junction on the high street, due to heavy traffic and poor visibility. The most recent accident on the 3rd of October 2012 was fatal, my 7yr old son Mitchell was killed on the entrance to the co-op store after a collision with a security van. More needs to be done to help pedestrians cross this entrance safely and the road that is Landywood Lane. The road is always busy as it is a main entry and exit road to the village. There are also a lot of pedestrians as these roads are situated between all local schools. Most motorist are travelling far too fast given that these roads are 30mph. the entrance to the co-op is particularly dangerous and this my main focus to the petition, cars come on and off the entrance at speed to beat the ever growing on-coming traffic and are not observant enough to the pedestrians walking near the store entrance and across it. Local residents have been saying for some time now that this area has been an accident waiting to happen! Well this accident has happened and it has taken the life of a young boy with a promising future my darling son Mitchell.
Please sign this petition and help me make this area safer for your children, if we stand together maybe we can get something done before there is another fatal accident!
Many thanks
Michelle x
