Adopt Dutchess County Resolution

We the undersigned urge the Dutchess County, New York Legislature to approve the resolution submitted by Legislator Joel Tyner and co-sponsored by Legislator Ronald Ray.

Resolution:
Because Dutchess County taxpayers help subsidize the Dutchess County Community Action Agency at about a half million tax dollars a year in this year's budget alone, and many questions have been raised recently about this agency, this resolution calls on the Dutchess County Community Action Agency Executive Director to attend the next Family and Human Services Committee meeting to address these issues and answer pertinent questions, and that the DCCAA Executive Director also be part of a panel at an evening community forum with one Republican county legislator and one Democratic county legislator on that panel as well to answer questions from county taxpayers and the community on this issue.

The issues include:
Possible mismanagement of funds
Possible intentional misappropriation of funds
Unethical use of position
Mistreatment of current and past employees
Not adhering to agency guidelines
Intentional misrepresentation of facts on official documents
Other questionable practices

We further assert that because the Executive Director determines the use of the funds given to Dutchess County Community Action Agency, Inc. by the taxpayers of Dutchess County, as well as other donated funds, totaling 2.5 to 3 Million Dollars per year, this resolution should be passed and the citizens of Dutchess County be given the opportunity to question how these funds are used.
