This is a petition against the nuclear power plants that John Howard is possibly going to get put in Australia.
My arguments
Fission products are elements of nuclear energy any they are very radioactive and will remain radio active for hundreds and thousands of years.
There are no safe solutions for getting rid of nuclear waste.
This nuclear waste will take up a lot of storage space
.
Radiation can leak into the environment, contaminating soil, air, rivers and oceans which can cause cancer and other diseases.
The nuclear plants electricity produces substances which can be used for making nuclear weapons.
Nuclear energy has never been economic regardless of what you have heard.
The money going into promoting nuclear energy could be used for solar and wind energy instead, which would also be cheaper, safer and more available.
Nuclear power is not clean and green ,as the industry claims, because large amounts of traditional fossil fuels are required to mine and refine the uranium needed to run nuclear power reactors, to construct the massive concrete reactor buildings, and to transport and store the toxic waste created by the nuclear process. We can not estimate the present value of the storage costs of nuclear waste with any accuracy due to the length of time it needs to be stored. Nuclear power now would just be leaving future generations with a massive burden to maintain nuclear waste store
