“We, the undersigned academic staff of the Dublin Institute of Technology petition the Governing Body of this Institute that the Governing Body affirm its commitment to uphold the traditional principles of Academic Freedom and permanency which have traditionally been the entitlement of third level academic staff and that it direct the President and senior leadership figures in the Institute to undertake no course of action which would have the effect of diluting or weakening these principles, specifically in the context of any implementation of the 2010-2014 Public Service Agreement and in particular that the Institute withdraw any threat of compulsory redundancy to academic staff and instruct its negotiators accordingly.”
