Dear Mr. Lehutsky:
We, the undersigned, have seen pictures of a pony named Candy. We are deeply saddened and shocked to learn that a veterinarian has been able to successfully intervene on behalf of the ponys owner and convince you to stop the investigation, prevent criminal charges from being filed and prevent the euthanasia and necropsy of this animal. The ponys owner needs to be held accountable. How can the animals owner justify this ponys condition? How can she say that she did not see Candys problems or notice that the animal could barely stand? How can she justify her refusal to treat or euthanize this animal over a long period of time? We know that neglect is a crime of omission and can cause as much suffering as physical abuse. If this were a child suffering from a cancer that had been allowed to grow through lack of medical care, would you say that the parents failure to treat her condition was not a crime?
By removing the Mountain Region Humane Society from this investigation, you are permitting the pony to needlessly remain in pain. It is obvious to us that this animal is in distress and we are very disappointed by your decision to perpetuate and tolerate animal cruelty while preventing a humane officer from lawfully doing her job.
We respectfully request that you reconsider and reverse your decision so that this pony can be relieved of her suffering and the owner prosecuted.

This is an urgent matter...Candy's condition will never improve..it is known as animal cruelty to allow an animal to suffer in this manner for this long. Turning the other way is cowardly! Putting the pony down is in the best interest..and out of misery.
