Changes to the Oak Hill FLUM

We, the undersigned residents of Oak Hill, urge that the Austin City Council take specific action to respect the vision and goals of stakeholders who participated in the early stages of the Oak Hill Neighborhood Planning process.
Oak Hill is a community with historical identity rooted in the beauty of the oak and cedar woodlands, dramatic limestone karst formations, and spring-fed streams of the Hill Country. Residents have consistently expressed a desire for a community that preserves the semi-rural, Hill Country character of the community of Oak Hill. They have also recognized the need for a vital commercial center and improved civic services. While these desires are expressed in the text of the Oak Hill Combined Neighborhood Plan, they are contradicted in the Future Land Use Map.
For this reason we respectfully request that the City Council take the following specific actions:
1. Require revision of the current FLUM by clustering density at major intersections.
2. Include a zoning overlay to limit height of construction to 60 feet over the entire planning area.
3. Amend the application of the Hill Country Roadway Ordinance to include Highways 290 West and 71 through Oak Hill.
We believe that these changes once implemented will respect the integrity of the neighborhood planning process, preserve the Hill Country character of Oak Hill, avoid traffic problems, recognize the rights of current landowners, and reduce pollution of air and water resources.

I'm not opposed to development, but I feel that Mayor Winn and most of our city council have consistently supported developers over the wants and needs of the residents of Austin.
