LOCAL CITIZENS PETITION IN SUPPORT OF MAKING MARIJUANA THE LOWEST PRIORITY OF

LAW ENFORCEMENT IN CHARLOTTE, NC

Whereas, Americans have become increasingly supportive of removing criminal penalties for the possession and use of Marijuana, and several states are considering ballot initiatives to regulate and tax the use and sale of Marijuana;

Whereas, a staggering economy and the effects of the Financial Crisis have caused irreparable damage to the fiscal infrastructure of many states, and Law Enforcement Agencies are forced to do more with less;

Whereas, a conviction for misdemeanor possession of marijuana prevents job-seekers from gaining employment, and precludes students from receiving financial assistance and seeking higher education;

Therefore, the undersigned hereby support and do demand passage of a municipal ordinance that would move marijuana to the lowest possible priority for law enforcement in Charlotte, NC.
