Comcast Removal of Sci-Fi from Basic Cable Package

We, subscribers of Comcast Cable's Basic Cable Package (or family members of household thereof), request that Comcast reconsider removing the Sci-Fi Channel from their Basic Cable package.





It is the opinion of us, the subcribers, that it is in the best interest of the subscribing community that the Sci-Fi Channel remains in the basic package, and NOT replaced by a new iteration of "The Weather Channel."





It is the belief that Comcast sees the Sci-Fi Channel is a growing cable channel with a strong base, and in turn Comcast believes that this base WILL subscribe to Premium Cable, thus driving up Comcast revenues, in order to keep the Sci-Fi Channel. This petition is to inform the heads of programming at Comcast that they are wrong.





The vast amount of Sci-Fi Channel viewers are between the ages of 16 and 30. Statistics show that Science Fiction fans of this age range are in college, studying either as an undergraduate or graduate student. Such students are regulated to very poor incomes and cannot afford Premium Cable.





In fact, by your actions, you are dooming a cable network that you are providing. Ratings will drop and beloved shows will be canceled. Comcast, and Comcast alone, will be soley responsible for the killing of a cable channel as well as disowning a large number of subscribers.





We, The Undersigned, implore Comcast to reconsider removing the Sci-Fi Channel from the Basic Cable Package.
