Comprehensive Sex Education in America

There has been a debate raging in American politics between those who support abstinence-only education and those who support a comprehensive sex education. Abstinence only education is failing our youth. Numerous studies and research have shown abstinence only education to be more than lacking. By our government supporting abstinence only program, they are giving credibility to programs that lie to our children, by misrepresenting facts about contraception and abortion, blending science and religion, and presenting inaccurate information as fact.

We need our politicians to support federally funding comprehensive sex education in our nations schools. While many fear such a program would encourage bad behavior, nothing could be further from the truth. It has been shown that comprehensive programs are effective in preventing STIs, teen pregnancy and actually decrease and delay teen sex. We need to make sure that our youth have all the information necessary to be responsible. Its time for the government to get on board with the rest of the population and support the most responsible program in teaching our kids about sex.

In signing this petition, we are speaking to our government to tell them that abstinence only information is not good enough for our youth.
