Darfurian Women Demand Peace (DWDP)

Dear Mr. Bassolй:
We write as Darfurian women who are in displaced persons camps and scattered as refugees around the world, as well as women from all over Sudan who advocate for peace and for a solution to the Darfur conflict.
Our eyes are dry from crying over what has happened to our families. We want our children to play instead of having to hide at the sound of bullets. We want our children to carry pens and pencils rather than weapons.
We appreciate your efforts to achieve peace, security and stability in Darfur. However, we are exhausted from the persistence of the war with the ongoing killing, violation and absence of security.
We appeal to you to sit for serious strong and neutral mediation in a way that will restore the confidence of all parties of the conflict and to sit down for peace negotiations. Mr. Bassolй, we are fed up with the war. We need peace.
Let us work to make September 21, 2010, the International Day of Peace, the day we women of Darfur and all Sudan join with you to take the final steps toward achieving peace in Darfur.
