Exit Strategy (H.R.775)

We believe that the American people sent Congress a clear message in last year's election to reject the Bush administration's "stay the course" approach to the war in Iraq. In response, Congressman McHugh submitted H.R. 775 on January 31st: "... requiring the President to submit a request for additional funding after certifying substantial progress has been made in Iraq in meeting certain performance measures." We urge each of you to give serious consideration to cosponsoring your colleague's legislation, and then supporting it should it ever rise to the point of being voted on for final passage.

The war in Iraq has gone on for 4 years now, with no end in sight. The time is long overdue for Congress to assert the powers granted to it by the Constitution (1, 2) regarding matters of war and peace!
