a. Not qualifying for the World Cup in 2006 would erode support for the sport in this country
b. By not having the regular National Team appear in ALL World Cup Qualifying matches, chances of qualification are greatly diminished
c. Asking the fans to support either side unconditionally in this agreement is unfair to the faith fans have placed in both groups
d. By allowing a disagreement over money to potentially derail qualification for the World Cup it increases the difficulty of maintaining and increasing the fan base for US Soccer
e. The current stalemate is serving to erode the steady gains made by U.S. Soccer (players, federation, and supporters) over the last 15 years
f. If all of these things occur with no agreement in place there would very likely be a decrease in support for the USSF, US Mens National Team, and soccer in the United States in general leading to decreasing revenue
In light of these reasons, among others, we urge the USSF and the US Mens National Team Players Association to come to an agreement that will allow the full team to begin qualification on February 9, 2005 in Trinidad & Tobago for the good of US Soccer and the good of the game.
