Have you gotten YLOD (Yellow Lights of Death)?
Have you gotten, "An error occurred during the start application. 80010514?"
I recently purchased Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Everything was running fine until I downloaded version 1.04 patch. My game froze whether it was in the beginning of an online game or at the end and I wasn't able to return back to the lobby. I restarted my Playstation 3 and it wasn't able to read my disc. I put the disc back in and received the 80010514 error. Thereafter I tried a couple of my other games and they all seemed to freeze. I did my fair share of research online and seen many posts of people who are experiencing the same problem as me.
I called up SONY and they had no answers for me. I was told that I was the first call they have gotten about this problem. They expect me to pay them $150 to repair my system for a problem that was caused by them. I know for a fact I did nothing wrong to my Playstation and kept it in great condition. It can't be so coincidental that thousands of other peoples Playstations died the same time as mine after playing the same game, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. SONY also told me on the phone that they do not monitor the patches that software game publishers come out with.
I also took the time to call up Activision who assured me that their patch had nothing to do with this problem, as its a hardware issue. Call of Duty is not the only game this has happened with, which is why I have come to terms to believe them.
It is ridiculous that SONY has no answers for us besides to pay them more money after we dished out plenty for their gaming console. If you agree that SONY should refund our money or a new Playstation 3 for these problems that we can't control, then this petition is one you should sign.
