For years there has been a huge gap in the market for a magazine about guinea pigs - a pet that is kept by an estimated 208,000 homes in the UK. In early 2011 the brand new Guinea Pig Magazine was launched and has since then been available to buy direct from the publisher. Copies of the Magazine have gone out worldwide - UK, USA, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, Norway and many, many more.
However, research among the target audience in the UK has shown that they would prefer to buy their copies from their local Pets at Home, WHSmith and other pet and newsagent retail outlets, and we believe this would promote ultimate customer satisfaction as well as being visible to other guinea pig owners who seek out a magazine about their favourite pets.
We have the ability to get Guinea Pig Magazine into these shops, but we must prove directly to these stores that there is a demand for it. With over 1,500 followers on Facebook and countless subscribers, there is huge interest in the publication and we have heard countless times since launching, "It's about time there was a magazine about guinea pigs!".
We have proven that Guinea Pig Magazine is very viable as a long-term publication, we have thus far published four issues and have not even touched on some of the biggest areas of guinea pig care and welfare. We have far more content than we can fit in the pages of each issue, and this will be the case for as long as Guinea Pig Magazine is published. We already have many big name brands advertising with us including Burgess, Supreme Petfoods, Oxbow and more!
There are magazines for dogs, cats and even parrots in the mainstream market - why should a magazine about guinea pigs be left out, especially when they are such a popular pet for adults and children alike? Guinea Pig Magazine can only get bigger and better the more people get involved, so if YOU want to see it more widely and locally available, please sign your agreement and ask your other guinea pig loving friends to do so!
